Symphonic Band
The Symphonic Band is the highest level ensemble within the Tates Creek Bands. This auditioned group performs a variety of high quality literature frequently throughout the year. This class will also incorporate an advanced level of music theory while developing both ensemble and individual musicianship skills. They are under the direction of Mr. Cunningham and Mr. Hunt.
Concert Band
The Concert Band is the entry level ensemble within the Tates Creek Bands. This large group performs a variety of high quality and developmental literature frequently throughout the year. This class will also incorporate an introductory level of music theory while developing both ensemble and individual musicianship skills. They are under the direction of Mr. Cunningham and Mr. Hunt.
Percussion
The Percussion members of the Tates Creek Bands meet separate from the wind players to function both as a percussion ensemble and as percussionists for the concert program. Brian Flack teaches this class that focuses not only on performance, but on theory and the vast amount of techniques needed for the wide variety of instruments used in this class.
Marching Band
The Tates Creek High School Marching Band is a zero hour class/optional ensemble for members who are enrolled in Symphonic Band, Concert Band, or Percussion. The TCHS Marching Band performs at both home football games and at local and regional competitions. We have competed in KMEA, Mid-States, and BOA Competitions. This group also travels frequently, most recently to Orlando, FL, Washington D. C., and Chicago, IL.
Jazz Band
The Jazz Ensemble is a zero hour class that meets Tuesdays and Thursdays after school. The Jazz Band is made up of high school students from both Concert Band and Symphonic Bands and performs music in many jazz genres. The Jazz Ensemble performs three concerts a year as well as for community events. The Jazz Band is under the direction of Brent Hunt.
